AI Gives Baccarat Advantage Players a New Edge in Asia
Baccarat’s booming side-bet market is becoming an increasingly costly battleground for Asian casinos.

According to an analysis by Differential Labs, sophisticated players are using a combination of computer-assisted counting and AI to identify moments when certain wagers enter positive expected-value territory. This trend may already be costing operators around $500-700 million annually.
The stakes are particularly high because side bets are highly lucrative: although they represent just 5% of total baccarat wagers, they can generate 40-60% of a casino’s baccarat revenue.
AI has transformed the economics of advantage play. Rather than tracking a single wager, players can now monitor an entire portfolio of side bets and deploy their bankroll when the strongest opportunity arises. Differential Labs estimates that this can increase returns by up to four times and boost the probability of finishing a shoe in profit from around 8% to almost 33%.
High Tie variants, Dragon Seven, Four Card Tie and Monkey/No Monkey are among the bets that create the greatest exposure, while others remain too volatile or difficult to exploit consistently.
The challenge is no longer confined to online bots. AI-assisted teams are increasingly appearing on casino floors, coordinating through spotters and remote analysts. Ironically, AI may also become the industry’s strongest defence, helping online casinos to detect suspicious betting patterns on a large scale before advantage play erodes margins further.
